About Us

St. John’s Early Education Center was established in 1964 as a ministry of St. John’s Episcopal Church in downtown Worthington, Ohio. At SJEEC, we consider it a privilege to be teaching in the field of early childhood education. We know that early childhood education is the foundation for future growth socially, emotionally and academically. At SJEEC, we value the uniqueness of each child and believe that each child’s path to growth is also unique. For this reason, teachers plan and implement learning experiences based on each child’s interests, needs and learning goals in an effort to individualize each preschool experience.

Each of the classrooms provide children many opportunities for mental, physical and emotional growth through a variety of creative experiences. Recognizing that young children learn as they play, free play is considered an essential part of the school day. Each day also consists of daily routines and direct instruction in the content areas of literacy, mathematics and science. Additionally, all students participate in a Spanish class weekly, and yoga and music classes bi-weekly. Our teachers recognize the importance of balanced growth.

SJEEC offers an extension to the school day for our four and five year old students, which we call Enrichment. Enrichment days are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00-2:00. On Enrichment days, children bring their lunch and the teachers provide additional learning experiences in the areas of math, science, reading, writing and social studies.

We also offer a young 3’s class beginning in January. It has become quite popular as we are the only school in the area to have a program for children who turn three by the end of January. Our teachers are particularly perceptive to the needs of that age group. Students entering this program will join a class of three year old students in an inclusive environment designed specifically for our youngest learners.

St. John’s Early Education Program is licensed by the State of Ohio. The Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services (ODJFS) visits annually and does a rigorous inspection of the center. We have consistently gone above and beyond what is required by the state to bring families an exceptional preschool program. All of our teachers have professional development requirements that they fulfill each year in order to keep their teaching skills and credentials current.

Our preschool has a limited number of spaces available each year. Interested parents and caregivers are encouraged to visit the school to take a tour. I f you would like to make an appointment for a tour, or simply would like to learn more, please reach out to our Director, Carrie Troester or Kelly Monahan, our Office Manager.
